What is VA Community Care?
VA Community Care allows eligible Veterans to receive care from local providers when the VA cannot meet the required time or distance standards.
You may qualify if:
- VA wait times exceed 20 to 28 days
- Travel is more than 30 minutes for primary care
- Travel is more than 60 minutes for specialty care
- The service you need is not available at your VA
- Your provider determines it is in your best medical interest
Community Care must be authorized in advance.
