For life-threatening emergencies, go to the nearest emergency room. Notify VA within 72 hours of emergency care. VA may cover emergency care costs under certain conditions.

VA will cover authorized Community Care at no cost to you if you're eligible and receive proper authorization. Unauthorized care may result in out-of-pocket expenses.
